It looks like Blackmagic is at it again but this time they are back with a native Micro Four Thirds mount, in a price range that could have you dropping your GH3 ?! Up until now the most capable dslr sized and “best in class” video could be found on the GH3, a flagship MFT camera for filmmakers and video. The new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera is a RAW-shooting, $1000 video camera that fits in your pocket and looks to be capable of dethroning my beloved..
-The Pocket Cinema Camera sports a super-16 sensor, a size slightly smaller crop than larger Cinema Cameras.
-It records full HD 1920×1080 (30 fps max) to ProRes or CinemaDNG RAW,
–13 stops of dynamic range!
–Active micro four-thirds mount! This means it will talk to all of your current Olympus and Panasonic glass for MFT, auto-focus and optical image stabilization should work.
-MFT mount also means easily adaptable to most cinema and manual photo lenses ever made. Crazy i know.
–Records to SD CARDS !
-High quality ProRes 422 (HQ) and lossless compressed CinemaDNG files so you retain fine image detail with wide dynamic range for amazing images
-And last but not least, its aiming for a retail of $995

Needless to say, this is a game changer! Can you imagine?! I thought the GH3 let me bring cinema to tight spaces or, candid shots like no other camera. No one ever expects i’m making a film in a smaller looking body with the GH2 or GH3 but this takes it a step further by making cinema quality something you can stick in your pocket. Are you going to get one? I know i am =)
